ABOUT ROCHESTER

As the birthplace to one of Australia’s finest cyclists, Sir Hubert Opperman, Rochester boasts a wide range of sporting and leisure activities, including a scenic river track, two golf courses, multiple tennis courts, an Olympic standard swimming pool (open during the summer months) and a state recognized bowling green. In addition to several netball courts and football ovals that have been the home of many exciting sporting matches over the years, Rochester has a proud history, with attractive older buildings being faithfully restored. Visitors are encouraged to learn more about the town’s history by following the local historical plaque trail or visiting the impressive Rochester Sports Museum.  The Rochester Historical Society has an enormous amount of history. Our Town

With a supermarket, bakery, butcher, specialty chicken shop, along with hotels and cafes, Rochester has all of our foodie needs covered. There is a newsagency and post office to keep us in touch, a chemist, hospital and two medical practices to keep us in good health and a laundromat, florist, beauty salon and hairdressers to keep us feeling our best. And the best bit? All services are within easy walking distance of each other.

Rochester is a wonderful place to live no matter what stage of life you are at. For young families there is the option of a long daycare program, kindergarten, two primary schools and a high school. What better place than a friendly town with multiple leisure options, award winning health care providers and essential facilities all within close proximity of the town centre. Rochester is a two hour drive from Melbourne Airport, 45 minutes from Shepparton and Bendigo, and just 25 minutes from popular tourist destination, Echuca. Public transport is also readily available with the Melbourne to Echuca train line running passenger services daily.
